Chkoba
The Classic Tunisian Card Game — Reimagined
Capture cards, chase the seven of diamonds, and outsmart friends and rivals in the beloved trick-taking game of Tunisia — now free to play online, no download required.
What is Chkoba?
Chkoba (شكوبة) is a traditional Tunisian trick-taking card game played with a 40-card deck. On your turn, you either capture table cards that sum to the same value as the card you play, or lay it down for later. Clear the table completely and you score a “chkoba” — the move the game is named after. At the end of a hand, points are awarded for the most cards, the most diamonds, the seven of diamonds (“sette bello”), and the highest-value “primiera” combination. First to the target score wins.

Frequently asked questions
The things people ask before their first hand.
How do you play Chkoba?
Each player is dealt cards from a 40-card deck with four on the table. On your turn you either capture table cards whose values add up to the card you play, or lay your card down. Clear the whole table and you score a chkoba. At the end of the hand, points go to the most cards, the most diamonds, the seven of diamonds, and the best primiera.
Is Chkoba free to play online?
Yes. Chkoba runs free in any browser at chkoba.org with no download and no install, and there is a free Android app. You can play against bots or against other players.
What is a chkoba?
A chkoba is the move the game is named after: a capture that clears every card off the table at once. Each one is worth a point at the end of the hand.
Why is the seven of diamonds important in Chkoba?
The seven of diamonds, the sette bello, is worth a point on its own to whoever captures it. Only one exists in the deck, so taking it is often worth more than a larger capture.
Can I play Chkoba with friends?
Yes. You can play 1v1 or 2v2 in teams, join a quick match against other players, or create a private room with a password and share it with friends.
What languages does Chkoba support?
Arabic, French, English and Tunisian Derja, in both Arabic script and Arabizi. You can switch language at any time.
